Hero To Be’s founder, Imad Elabdala, was born in Syria and came to Sweden as a refugee in 2013. With a formal education as an engineer and experience as an entrepreneur, Imad continued his journey in Sweden.

But the trauma from war remained, and led Imad to dive into psychology. After healing his own PTSD, he turned his attention to the many children he had encountered along the way who were still struggling. This was the start of Imad's work to help young people manage social challenges and emotional distress.

Since 2017, Imad has been developing a way to deliver psychosocial support to those children in society who need help most, but often slip through the gaps. We want to reach them before small problems become big problems, by providing them with fun tools that give them the building blocks to better wellbeing, and by doing that through science, storytelling and technology.
